In this assignment, we were told to use photoshop to create pop art with a photo of ourselves and any other picture. We had to crop the original photo and make it black and white. We then had to put four of that picture on one canvas and change the colors of the picture. I learned how to use filters on photos. I also learned hoe to resize a canvas and the different uses for that. I learned what layers are and how to move them. Lastly I learned what thresholds are and how to manipulate them. This assignment was pretty fun and I am happy with the outcome.

Shutter Speed1/13 1/30 1/60 1/125 In the first photo, I used a longer shutter speed which created motion blur in the moving flame and smoke from the torch. In the last photo I used a faster shutter speed to make it freeze on the motion of the flame and smoke. Aperaturef 4.5 f 8 f 25 f 32 I changed the aperture to show different depths of field. In the first photo, I used a bigger opening to show a smaller depth of field, which is shown by the blurry background. In the last picture, I used a smaller opening to show a larger depth of field as the background is more in focus than in the first picture. A fast shutter speed freezes the action in a photo.
A slow shutter speed causes motion blur in an image. A Large aperture causes a shallow depth of field in an image. A small aperture causes a wide depth of field in an image. I have chosen to focus on Still Life/Products. I think this topic could be really interesting. As I was searching for examples I found the following pictures that are great examples. I would like to try to recreate the shoe picture and I would also like to try this type of photography with a board game.
The composition assignment included reading about different parts of composition and taking notes on them. We then had to take pictures to incorporate each of the eleven parts of composition we learned about. Lastly, we had to choose eleven pictures and put them into a blog and describe the part of composition in relation to our pictures. Rule of ThirdsThis photo represents the rule of thirds as the subject's eyes are on the top third line and is facing the middle of the frame while being located on the left third line. PatternThe website that we took notes from said that patterns are everywhere. I found a pattern right here in the school hallway floors. I filled the frame with the pattern to emphasize the repetition. SymmetrySymmetry is when things look the same on both sides. This can be tricky within photos as it has to break the rule of thirds. This photo TextureTexture is shown when light hits an object at an angle and makes the 2D image appear 3D. In this photo, the light shows the texture of the paint strokes at the top of the photo. It also shows the bumpy look of the wall towards the bottom of the image. Depth of FieldShallow depth of fields isolate the subject from the background and foreground while a larger depth of field gives the photo more context. This photo shows a small depth of field as only a small part of the railing is in focus while the background is not in focus. LinesThere are many types of lines in photography. In this photo, I used the converging lines of the stairwell handrails to bring the focus to the subject of the picture. FramingI used the elevator opening to frame the subject. This added depth and more context to the photo compared to if it was just a close up of the subject in the elevator. PerspectiveThis low angle of chairs is very different than how people normally see chairs so it gives the image a different feel than if it was taken from high up. SpaceThis photo is an example of filling in the space of the whole frame. Filling the frame usually works better than having empty spaces in photos. BalanceTo have a balanced photo, you want to fill your frame by cropping, zooming in, or moving elements of your photos. This photo shows balance by mostly filling the frame with the colorful rock in the front but also having some color in the background to keep one side from having way more than the other. ColorColors have the ability to change the mood of a photo. This photo has a lot of bright colors which creates a bright, energetic, and happy mood within the picture. What I LearnedDuring this assignment I learned quite a lot. I learned that small differences in how people take pictures and incorporate different things into their pictures can make a huge difference in the outcome of the photos. I also struggled a little bit in the process of learning. I had to get used to using a digital camera instead of a DSLR which was more difficult than I originally thought it would be. I struggled a lot with creating this blog as the formatting kept getting messed up as I would try to put different things in. It was really interesting to see my opinions of my own pictures change. I hated some of the pictures I took when I first took them but ended up liking them a lot more as time went on and I saw them more than once in the process of making this blog. A example of this is the photo I used for texture. I absolutely hated this picture when I first took it but now it s one of my favorites from this project.
Livi MorganHi. My name is Livi Morgan. I am seventeen years old and currently a senior at Saline High School. I am involved in Hornet Light and Sound and Live Video Crew. I have divorced parents and 5 siblings. I took this class to learn more about photography and to create some cool photos. I have a tiny bit of experience with photography as I have used my older sister's DSLR cameras in the past but I don't have a ton of experience. I also have taken video classes in the past and am currently in Video News Production so that could possibly help me a little in this class.
