Final ReflectionWe started this class by learning the basic composition rules. I really liked this because it gave rules to the photos that you could decide to follow if you wanted. To learn the composition rules we had to go around the school and find pictures that fit the rules. I struggled a little with finding a few of the rules but found them in the end. through this assignment I was able to learn what looks good and how to make my photos. Looking back, these photos were not great. I went to Chicago and decided to take pictures of architecture while there. This assignment turned out more difficult than I had originally thought and many of the images turned out blurry. This taught me to always check my photos before leaving the place I am taking pictures at. The best photo from this shoot is this photo. I learned a lot about myself through this class and was able to learn to be more creative in the photos I was taking. My favorite thing to photograph turned out to be people. I really enjoyed the connection I was able to make with the people as I attempted to get a good shot of them smiling as I made jokes to make them laugh. Here are a few of my favorites. The worst photo assignment that I did was the light painting assignment. This assignment requires multiple people that will listen to you. I only had my parents and it was a bit of a struggle. The photos did not turn out great and they were not as creative as I wanted them to be. I learned a lot about how photoshop works. This class was the first opportunity I had to use Photoshop so I was excited about what I would be able to make. In the beginning of the class we had to photoshop a car to match a sample. We only used the simple tools in this assignment but I struggled a lot. I was able to fight through the urge to quit while using the clone stamp tool. Later in the trimester, we had to do "multiple me" photos where the same subject appears in the picture multiple times. This assignment used layer masks and was a lot of fun to do. Over the trimester, I was able to become more comfortable with the program. I had a lot of fun in this class and learned a lot. I will miss not having this class in the future.

Photoshop 8 puns and DefinitionsFor the last photoshop assignment, we had to create three visual puns and two definition images. The visual puns are images that use words that can have multiple meanings and make an image that represents that word. The definition photos are images that have the definition of the word and pictures that represent that word. I chose Calm and Frigophobia as my words. In this assignment I got to be creative and just have some fun with photoshop. I was able to use different select tools and opacities to create cool things. I learned how to use the warp tool.
Photo 7 MacroFor the last photo assignment I decided to try macro. For macro, we had to take pictures up close using the macro setting on the camera. I think it is really cool to see normal everyday objects in a new perspective. Runner ups: In this assignment, I was able to put everything I had learned in the previous assignments and was able to use the macro setting for the first time.
Photoshop 7 PortraitIn this photoshop assignment, we had to take a picture of a person in a studio and out of the studio. The assignment focused on the different lighting techniques that are used in portrait photography. We then had to use photoshop to add frames to the pictures. In this assignment I learned how to use studio lighting and got more practice with the rectangle tool and different shortcuts in photoshop. I enjoyed this assignment as I got to work with new people and make new friends.
Photo 6 Light PaintingFor photo 6, I decided to try light painting. The demo in class was super cool so I was excited to try it on my own. I had my parents help me by posing and drawing while I used the camera. Iso: 100 Shutter speed: 15 f 4.0 In photoshop, I edited the background to isolate the subject more. I also increased the contrast and brightness. This assignment was pretty fun to do but was a bit difficult to get a method that worked well. A few of the pictures showed a lot of the foreground but after a few more tries we figured out how to shine the light to avoid this. I also got more practice with using the camera in full manual mode.
Photoshop 6 tutorialsIn this assignment we had to follow different photoshop tutorials to learn different tools. We had to follow one that allowed you to make the majority of the photo in black and white with just a little bit of color and one that made it look like the photo was made out of many polaroid pictures. Then we had to follow tutorials of our choice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRtysJJppKE This tutorial was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It worked a lot with different layers and opacities. I also got to use the magic wand tool to get rid of the background of the original picture. https://youtu.be/bWVzl8kklAA
In this tutorial, I made Mark's face into words. The tutorial used a lot of layer masks and the text tool. I also learned how to make gradients. My end product turned out a lot creepier than the one in the tutorial but I think it is still really cool. I had to redo a few steps when things didn't work out but overall it wasn't super difficult. Photo 5 - Black and WhiteFor this photo assignment I chose to do black and white. I tried to capture contrast between the lights and darks of these images by putting a black and white effect in photoshop. In photoshop, I cropped the picture a tiny bit and added a black and white adjustment layer. ISO 160 f 5.0 Shutter Speed: 1/80 In this assignment I learned how to use photoshop to make an image black and white and got more practice with using the manual settings on the camera. It was really cool to see how taking the color away could change the mood of the pictures.
Photoshop 5 Multiple MeIn this assignment, we had to take multiple pictures in the same place with the subject in different places then put them ll together to make it seem like there are multiple copies of the same person. In photoshop we learned how to use layer masks. In this assignment I learned how to use the layer mask tool. This tool could be a little difficult as my photos didn't match up 100 percent correctly. Even though I used a tripod, the camera still moved a little bit between the photos. The patterned floor was the most difficult part to keep in line.
For photo 4 I decided to take pictures of my dog, Max. while I was trying to take pictures, my parents were eating dinner so I ended up having to hold a treat to keep his attention. I think these pictures show his personality as he looks at us like this every time we eat anything. Best picture after Photoshop. I increased the contrast and lowered the brightness a little. Original Photo F 5.6 ISO 3200 Shutter Speed 1/20 In this assignment, I started off with manual mode but switched it to full auto about halfway through. I think if I would have done this assignment again, I would have had brighter lights so the ISO was lower and chose a different time so he wasn't drooling as much.
Photoshop Assignment 4 In this assignment we had to change the context of the school. I decided to put the school in space and added an astronaut and a UFO to the photo. I learned how to be more precise with the selecting tools and learned about the magic wand tool. I was also able to use some creativity, which was pretty cool.
